The tiney team is looking for a Referrals and Partnerships manager. You’ll report to the Head of Sales and Marketing within the Growth team and will work closely with them to grow our network of new tiney childminders through 2 key channels; by activating our existing tiney community to generate referrals, and by creating good-fit Partnerships with other organisations and networks around the country.

Our Tech-Centric Approach

Technology is integral to the way we operate. Our home leaders utilise the tiney app to engage with families, manage payments, track children's progress, access EYFS activity ideas, and maintain connection with the wider tiney community. We’re building the world’s first home based care OS - with a vision to combine SaaS tools with a dynamic marketplace that supports families and providers to transact in high quality and affordable care.  Our operating system includes all payment and contract support for our community. We earn our revenue by charging a permanent take rate as a percentage of their income.


Tiney is backed by some of Europe’s top VCs (having raised over £12m) and has already demonstrated product-market fit, claiming a significant share of the UK childminding market, strong growth and a clear path to profitability. As of the first half of 2023, we accounted for one-third of all new childminding supply nationwide and are in the top 5 Childcare Providers in the UK by childcare place (alongside household names such as Bright Horizons and Busy Bees), and we are now processing over £1m in childcare payments each month through our platform. Our immediate goal is to move from a top 5, to top 3 and then top position in the UK, and beyond that we have a huge appetite to grow tiney internationally.

The role

In this role you’ll be responsible for growing our network of new tiney childminders through 2 key channels; by activating our existing tiney community to generate referrals, and by creating good-fit Partnerships with other organisations and networks around the country. For each channel we have clear KPIs and measurable goals which you’ll be targeted on achieving.  

Key Responsibilities


  • You’ll take ownership of our referrals programme, activating our growing community of 1k+ childminders, 8k+ parents and select external partners.

  • You’ll work end-to-end on referrals; designing, implementing and managing a high performing referrals programme within the tiney network. As referrals owner, it’ll be your job to own the referrals budget and to use content, events, campaigns and direct outreach to accelerate the growth of the tiney network of childminders through our existing community.

  • You’ll collaborate with other teams to achieve our referral goals; briefing our product team on how the program should be integrated and reported within our tiney products, and leveraging our Social Media and Sales Adviser teams to support on activation. 

  • You’ll bring an analytical mindset to our referrals data - utilising dashboards and datasets to gain insights on performance improvements and to measure and report on commercial successes.  

  • You’ll be able to design a comprehensive programme; thinking about existing childminders, enrolled families and external influencers as different referral users and adapting the programme for each segment. 

  • Partnerships

    • You’ll take ownership of our Partnerships strategy, finding ways to grow our network of new tiney childminders and new families through direct partnership channels.

    • You’ll need exceptional relationship building skills, commercial sharpness and self-starter motivation to build bespoke partnerships which are built to last

    • You’ll work closely with members of our team who are regular recipients of inbound partnership opportunities (often our CEO or Head of Sales and Marketing) to meet, validate and activate commercial opportunities with good-fit partners. 

    • You’ll develop an outbound Partnerships and brand awareness strategy, identifying partner opportunities, building relationships/networking, and pitching tiney to grow the contribution of leads we receive from partners

    • You’ll accelerate the contribution of deals we see from existing Partners by compounding what’s working now, and finding new commercial opportunities by growing existing relationships. This will include key partner channels such as Local Authorities, Job Centres/Work Programmes, Education organisations and Influencers/Advisors.

    • Ultimately, you’ll be the Commercial Lead for getting deals over the line, requiring the ability to negotiate terms, define ROI, and get signatures on contracts.

  • Capable of owning a pipeline of opportunities, and effectively managing your time towards the best outcomes

  • Comfortable having clear performance targets around deal volume, revenues generated and other commercial KPIs

  • Passionate about working for a socially focused startup and excited about the social impact of tiney’s mission to transform and supercharge Early Years education

  • A strong communicator - able to translate tiney’s proposition and vision in to pitches that make sense for varied target audiences (from Local Authorities to big Corporates) and that get people excited about becoming part of the tiney story

  • Supercharging how we work - you’re a team player who is keen to learn, and always looking for innovative ways to level up what we do

Success in this role looks like:

  • Hitting and exceeding monthly goals - you are able to evidence a growing pipeline of high quality referrals and closing new partnerships every month

  • Working upstream in a collaborative and high performing way, with clear goal and progress reporting to our Head of Sales and Marketing and with a dotted line in to our CEO 

  • Innovating the scope of the role. You’re bringing an entrepreneurial lens to how we work, growing the breadth and scope of our referrals and partnerships channel and bringing new ideas into the business. 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A proven pair of hands with similar types of revenue or growth goals. You have experience in commercial roles and can evidence projects where you have owned strategy and shown proven results

  • A natural relationship builder - emotionally intelligent and able to quickly build rapport and establish trust with a wide range of stakeholders by understanding their needs and how tiney can help

  • ‘Curious minds see more’ - you embody one of our core ‘curiosity’ values of tiney and can show how a curiosity for customer needs translates into commercial outcomes

  • An analytical thinker - you’re comfortable making data-driven decisions, whether to manage your own pipeline or to demonstrate ROI to the wider business as part of a commercial meeting

  • Tenacious and creative - you maintain momentum and energy through the ups and downs of sales cycles

Tiney is a nationwide company. We work in a remote-first way, but many of our team are located within commuting distance of our office space in Holborn, London and usually come in a few days a week.
