tiney Field Consultant - South UK (Full time role)
Location: South UK
We're looking for a full time team member to help support our registration visit processes at tiney. We're looking for someone who is energised by people, thrives in an early years settings and has a good understanding of what a high quality early years experience looks like. At tiney, our mission is to 'unlock the potential of every child'. We believe that educating young children is one of the most important things anyone can do. We're attracting talented individuals into early years education, we train them to provide a life-changing education for children, and support them to launch and run their own ‘tiney home nurseries’. This is where you come in.
The purpose of this role is:
To carry out registration visits/compliance visits and QA visits as needed.
To carry out joint safeguarding (unannounced) visits as needed.
Flexible and prepared to travel across the country, to ensure the agency is able to carry out all required visits in order to meet their statutory requirements as a CMA.
Be prepared to stay away from home as required.
To build supportive relationships with tiney registered childminders and tiney colleagues.
To ensure all childminders comply with relevant legislation and agency requirements.
To ensure childminders fully understand their obligations to provide the highest quality of childcare.
To monitor and evaluate how childminders meet the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS, to safeguard all children within their settings.
To monitor and evaluate how childminders meet the learning and development requirements of the EYFS, to provide the highest standards of care and education to all children within their settings.
To support with the planning, delivery and evaluation of support visits, registration visits, compliance visits and quality assurance visits.
To escalate concerns to the relevant tiney team teams / departments, exploring possible support tools for childminders.
To collaborate and effectively communicate with tiney colleagues to share feedback from visits, and to share any concerns or observations during or post visits promptly, following tiney’s safeguarding procedures.
To ensure registration visit notes and visit actions are sent out in a concise and timely manner, on the day of the visit.
To write up any visit notes / reports from support / compliance / QA visits in a concise and timely manner and within 7 working days of the visit.
To contribute and actively participate in consultant meetings, and any meetings with other tiney colleagues.
To keep and maintain up to date knowledge and relevant qualifications.
To promote the reputation of childminder agencies, by being supportive and collaborative in approach, whilst also adhering to legislation, providing critical support.
To carry out any other support duties to support the safeguarding team at tiney.
We're looking for someone who:
Has appropriate experience in the early years sector (see below)
Demonstrates strong observational and assessment skills.
Is able write reports concisely, to a high level of written English.
Must hold or be willing to undertake a valid enhanced DBS check.
Hold a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (preferable).
Has relevant knowledge of safeguarding and child protections.
Has the ability to set priorities, work flexibly, multi task and under pressure.
Has good interpersonal skills and be able to connect, enthuse, inform and motivate childminders.
Has strong and current knowledge of all safeguarding procedures, EYFS requirements and all legal statutory frameworks.
Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of child development theory, and of early years curriculum, evidence based practice, and teaching approaches.
Has a solid understanding of managing a childminder setting.
Highly motivated and dedicated to the role.
Is positive and considerate to others.
Is motivated to support the childminder agency model
Required early years experience:
Extensive experience of working front line with early years children, in a relevant role such as a childminder, nursery manager, children's centre manager, local authority advisory teaching.
Substantial knowledge and relevant experience of the EYFS and/or the provisions of the General Childcare Register Regulations, and a wide ranging / diverse set of experiences within early years (for example in more than one institution).
Experience of providing leadership and coaching support, in a role, such as:
Leading or coaching a group of childminders, such as through peer to peer coaching, or in a role supporting a local authority or early years training organisation.
OR Working as a multi-site nursery manager role, or providing coaching and support to other nursery managers
OR Supporting/ early years advisory role to early years professionals as part of a local authority or for an early years training organisation.
A relevant qualification (for example a level 3, a degree and/or equivalent professional qualification).
A thorough and clear understanding of the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (EYFS), which includes an understanding of the ‘safeguarding and welfare requirements’ and the ‘learning and development requirements’.

A nurturing supportive approach / leadership style, with an understanding of how to manage difficult conversations to support early years professionals with their development.
An understanding of the importance of legislation and regulation, when working with young children.
Desirable early years experience:
Working within a regulatory role within education (such as for another agency, or as an Ofsted Inspector).
Experience of working in a focused quality assurance role within education.
An understanding (or experience) of the childminder agency model.
