My name is Lu, and I started Wild at Heart childminding when I struggled to find a setting for my son that loved or could afford. I knew that I couldn’t be the only one with this struggle so I decided to start a new adventure with my little boy by my side.
Prior to this I was a deputy manager of a preschool. I am also a qualified teacher, and have worked in primary and secondary schools. I specialised in Mathematics and SEND. I have also recently completed SENco training.
My family consists of my husband Ed, myself, our little boy Elijah, 2 dogs (River and Delta) and a tank of tropical fish. I hope that children feel relaxed and happy in my home. Whilst I will be a home away from home, my background in teaching means that I will incorporate learning into everything we do. Following the children’s interests and learning through play. My home is calm and relaxing, but full of fun games to play and sensory experiences too.
We have 2 dogs that play an important role in my home. They are great with children and love the extra fuss and love the get from the kids.
I was previously a maths teacher and feel strongly that it’s never to early to learn about maths. In my home I will be incorporating it into everyday play. This might be by making patterns (a precursor to sequences), sharing our toys (division) or even simply cutting our food (fractions).
My family background is Italian but I grew up in Zimbabwe, Africa. This means I have a great understanding of how different cultures can be and experience of what it is like to be in an unfamiliar environment.

Alresford town, crowned by its large T-shaped main street conservation area, is an attractive art, rail and tourist destination, with its two classical, dense Georgian streets. There are multiple cafe’s and pubs, jewellers, wine merchants, butchers, flower shops, toy shops, dress shops, and a pet shop. It is also home the the Watercress Line. This heritage railway line runs steam and diesel trains, and gained its nickname from the fact that it used to be the line that took locally grown watercress up to London.
