About tiney
tiney is building a better childcare system. We help passionate, talented people open their own childminding businesses from home—giving families more access to quality, affordable care in their local community. Central to the tiney experience is an app which childminders use to run their business, including education tools, payments, contracts, messaging and much more. Backed by top investors and built by a team of educators and technologists, we’re on a mission to unlock the potential of every child.
The role
We’re looking for a full stack software engineer to join our small but mighty product team. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who loves working collaboratively across design, engineering, operations and beyond to solve real-world problems.
You’ll work end-to-end on features—from talking to customers and stakeholders to understand their needs, to planning, building, testing and shipping solutions. We’re a fully TypeScript team working across Node.js, React, React Native and GCP, and we welcome engineers from different backgrounds who care about solving the right problems with thoughtful solutions, and delivering impact fast.
If you consider yourself a product-minded engineer—someone who thrives on turning ambiguity into value, and who wants to work closely with stakeholders and users—you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do
Build and ship end-to-end features Work across the stack (React, React Native, Node.js, Firebase, Postgres, BigQuery, GCP) to deliver impactful features and improvements.
Solve real customer problems Stay close to users and stakeholders—help out on support tickets, join customer interviews, and bring feedback into your work.
Collaborate across the business Work closely with design, ops, growth, and leadership to plan, scope and deliver the right solutions for the problem at hand.
Drive quality and reliability Write clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and take ownership of system design, scalability and testing.
Use modern tools and practices Embrace AI tools (like LLMs) to speed up dev workflows and explore new product capabilities.
About you
Several years of experience shipping web or mobile products in production
Product-minded—you care about the “why” and not just the “how”
Happy working across the stack, even if you lean front-end or back-end
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and turning ideas into shippable plans
Strong communicator who enjoys working in a collaborative, cross-functional team
Familiar with modern engineering practices (e.g. CI/CD, testing, observability)
Curious, pragmatic and focused on delivering value fast
Excited about working in a fast-moving startup and making a real difference
UK-based and happy to travel to London occasionally for team days or planning sessions
Why join us
Make a real difference—your work will directly improve access to quality childcare for families across the UK
Join a friendly, mission-driven team of educators, technologists and operators
Work in a tight-knit product team where engineers stay close to users and own the outcome
Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and meaningful work in a remote-first setup
We offer a competitive salary (based on experience), and benefits including equity, 28 days holiday (plus extra special days off), and a UK childcare benefit
