tiney enables schools to turn unused classrooms or halls into regulated, high-quality childcare spaces. As an Ofsted approved childminder agency, all tiney childminders go through rigorous training and frequent inspections.
tiney childminders focus on learning through play every day, building strong loving relationships in local homely settings.
tiney childminders cater for the unique needs of different families offering flexible, quality assured, local childcare.
For schools
Hosting a tiney community nursery transforms unused space into a vibrant early years setting. The model is cost-neutral for schools and can even generate modest rental income, while providing a valued community service. tiney manages training, registration, insurance and compliance, guiding your school and childminder through all setup requirements. Most spaces need only small adjustments, such as child-height furniture or clear fire exits.
For childminders
tiney helps childminders operate from school premises, managing all registration and compliance steps. Schools can also recruit childminders from within their community, for example, a staff member, parent or alumni, with tiney waiving training fees to get the nursery running quickly.
For families
Families gain access to high-quality, flexible childcare within their local school. tiney settings are Ofsted-regulated, eligible for funded hours, and offer smaller ratios for more individual care. Parents use the tiney app to make payments, receive daily updates and access wellbeing benefits such as a 24/7 online GP.
A tiney community nursery is a childcare setting operated by a trained tiney childminder from a school space. tiney provides training, oversight and ongoing quality assurance while the school provides the venue.
The school offers the space, and tiney registers and supports the childminder. The nursery runs independently from your school's Ofsted inspection but meets all EYFS and safeguarding standards.
Schools must ensure suitable safeguarding arrangements for external providers, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. Each tiney childminder acts as the DSL for their setting and works alongside your school's safeguarding lead.
tiney checks that each space meets EYFS ratios and size standards. Typically, up to four adults can care for up to six children each, depending on age mix.
Most schools already have permissions for educational and childcare use. If any changes are needed, tiney guides the process.
Shared use can work as long as safeguarding and access are properly managed. tiney provides clear guidance on secure, supervised arrangements.
Hosting is cost-neutral. The childminder is self-employed and covers operating costs; the school may receive rental income.
Outdoor play is encouraged but not essential. tiney supports childminders to plan daily outdoor activity using shared or nearby areas.
tiney and the registered childminder hold all necessary liability and safeguarding insurance.
