It’s about two years since we first started training childminders in a small area of London - and, one pandemic, several hundred tiney homes and thousands of children later, what a journey it’s been. Now, after spreading out of London and into the Home Counties during 2021, we’re launching in our second city: hello Manchester!

We’re now officially on the hunt for amazing people in the Greater Manchester area who have what it takes to run their own tiney home.

Plus, if you’re not based in Manchester yourself but know somebody who you think would make a great tiney childminder, if you refer them to us and they go on to open a tiney home, you get £300.

For the first time, and so that we can meet as many potential tiney childminders as possible, we’re hosting in person briefing sessions across the Manchester area next week. They’re free to attend, refreshments will be provided and you don’t need to commit to anything. You can even bring your kids! The full details are below and you can book in here.

We’re also busy putting on some little treats for any eagle-eyed mini-Mancunians: we’re hiding books, stickers and goodies across parks, museums and children’s centres around Manchester to celebrate the launch of tiney in the city, so look out for them and share them on Instagram with the hashtag #tineyreaders if you’re lucky enough to find one!

tiney’s co-founder and CEO Brett Wigdortz OBE says:

“We’re thrilled to be launching in Manchester. We need a strong early years sector if our children are going to thrive during their school years and highly-skilled childminders are the best way of delivering this. We are looking forward to training up hundreds of new early years educators over the coming months and opening home nurseries that parents can rely on. We hope local families have fun finding our tiney gifts over the weekend and that their little ones enjoy the treats we’ve picked out!”

Isabel started her career in showbiz journalism, where she interviewed everyone from Russell Brand to the Cheeky Girls. After becoming a mum to two kids (and two cats), she grew weary of needing to identify individual Kardashians and instead got a taste for communicating with parents. She spent three years at Mush, the social app for mums (where she also wrote The Mumsition, a lighthearted guide to parenting) and has now joined tiney to sprinkle some glitter across all things content.
