L&D Programme Manager - Maternity Cover
Location: UK based , hybrid with occasional travel to our Central London office
About tiney
tiney is England's largest Ofsted-regulated Childminder Agency (CMA). We recruit, train, register, and support home-based childminders, and take on ongoing regulatory responsibility for the quality and safeguarding of every childminding setting in our network.
We currently work with over 1,100 tiney-registered childminders across England, supporting more than 10,000 families with high-quality, flexible childcare.
In 2024, we were named one of the UK & Ireland’s 100 fastest-growing startups, and shortlisted for the Global EdTech Prize.
At tiney, we’re building a better childcare system. We help passionate, talented people open their own childminding businesses from home — giving families more access to high-quality, affordable care.
Central to tiney’s experience is our app, which childminders use to run their business — from education tools and payments to messaging and family communication.
Founded in 2018 by a team from Teach First and graze.com, we’ve raised £20m from top European VCs, and are already one of the UK’s top 5 childcare providers by childcare places
Overview
This is a maternity cover post , initial 9-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension to 12 months . You will take on the delivery of the tiney L&D programme for trainees and registered childminder, through training, coaching and resources, that help tiney childminders provide outstanding practice, build thriving businesses, and enjoy fulfilling careers, all in support of tiney’s mission to unlock the potential of every child.
The current post holder begins maternity leave in mid to late January 2027. We would like you to start before then, so there is time for a handover and you can pick up the programme without a break in delivery.
The Role
Leading on the delivery of the tiney L&D programme for trainees and registered childminders, through training, coaching and resources, that help tiney childminders provide outstanding practice, build thriving businesses, and enjoy fulfilling careers, all in support of tiney's mission to unlock the potential of every child.
This is a delivery role. You will work closely with the Head of Quality, Learning and Development to help shape the learning and development strategy, and then take responsibility for turning it into reality: planning, building, and running the programmes that bring it to life.
You will work to clear KPIs and OKRs, lead projects in L&D end to end, and stay close to tiney childminders, the community coaches, the consultant network, and the wider tiney teams, through discussions, visits, consultations and user research, to ensure training meet the needs of the community.
You will use the rich data available to tiney through Claude, to ensure that the data is used to make sure that training priorities are evidence-led too.
How you'll work
This role needs someone who gets stuck in. We are looking for a person who:
Takes the initiative
and does not wait to be told what to do. You spot what needs doing and you start.
Triages priorities,
through the lens of what makes the biggest impact to childminders, and is in line with the company strategic objectives of growth, customer happiness, and scalability.
Experiments.
You try things, learn from what works and what doesn't, and improve as you go.
Uses AI tools
to test ideas, speed up delivery, and create better learning, and is keen to keep building confidence and capability with them over time.
Is comfortable tinkering
and getting hands-on rather than waiting for a perfect plan before starting.
Actively looks for new and better ways of working,
and is willing to challenge how things are currently done.
You will have the space to try new approaches. We want someone who will use it.
Responsibilities
Own the delivery of the CPD calendar and content library, keeping training well-planned, current, and impactful, both for registered childminders, and for trainees in ‘Train with tiney’ (TWT) journey.

Design and deliver learning for childminders using a range of approaches that help them support the ongoing development of the children in their care and grow their business and careers.
Create high-quality learning content, tools, and resources efficiently, using technology and AI, and in collaboration with the design and product teams as well as external experts where needed.
Lead L&D projects from planning through to delivery, working to agreed KPIs and OKRs and reporting on progress and impact.
Collaborate with a network of consultants and experts to broaden the scope of learning provision.
Distribute training and coaching effectively across all channels (app, hub, live sessions, email, chat, and in-person events) to engage every audience, from trainees and new childminders to experienced childminders and parents.
Work collaboratively with the growth team to generate content for socials, as well as sharing this type of content in tiney tips.
Make sure CPD reflects inclusive practice, including SEND-focused training and resources.
Use insights from quality assurance and compliance data to spot trends, inform new training, evaluate effectiveness, and improve existing content and delivery.
Gather and interpret feedback from childminders, community coaches, consultants, and the wider community to identify emerging needs and help shape new training priorities.
Work closely with product, design, onboarding and customer success to embed learning into the wider tiney experience.
Support community coaches with mentoring resources, and ongoing guidance, in collaboration with them and the Coaches Programme Manager.
