Esther’s tiney home nursery

My tiney home nursery has a ‘home from home’ vibe, with enabling environments, where children can access their chosen activities freely and independently. I love to see children flourish physically, academically, socially and emotionally. I adapt my tiney home activities to reflect each individual child’s needs, creating a holistic approach to their development.

About my home

I have been working with children for the last 10 years. Firstly, working in a small Montessori nursery where I gained my Montessori Diploma, then as a foster carer, working with children from varied backgrounds from aged 3 up to 14 years. Through fostering I have accumulated and topped up a vast amount of knowledge of child development, attachment, trauma, behavioural issues, first aid, and coping mechanisms. I provide Montessori influences in my tiney home nursery.

Story time

I love reading books with children, especially Julia Donaldson. Whether we are snuggled in a cosy area with a book, or getting a better understanding of the story through the use of toys, roleplay or singing.

Home baking

I aim to bake with the children at least once a week, incorporating language and communication, maths, and knowledge of the world – alongside getting to eat various yummy homemade goodies

Great local amenities for exploring and playing

Whether it’s a simple walk along the road to look at the horses, a stumble into the woods to see what we can find, a walk into the vineyards to clearly see the changing of the seasons, or a trip to one of our many country parks, there is so much to explore on our doorstep.

tiney book club

Sharing books is at the heart of all tiney home nurseries – it’s fantastic for children’s imaginations, for building vocabulary, for speaking and listening, for personal, social and emotional development, and so much more. Through our partnerships with Walker Books and the National Literacy Trust, our childminders run creative activities around a wonderfully diverse range of books.

I live in a quiet village, with a local park and lots of walks either in the woods, along open footpaths, or around the vineyards.

Within short car trips there are many country parks, play areas, a library and other attractions. St Mark’s school is a 2 minute walk away, and there are a collection of other primary schools within 5-10 minutes drive.

What are others saying about Esther’s tiney home nursery?

Esther Barber was our son's foster carer for 5 months. She was his only carer and had the unenviable job of consoling a 3 year old who had a very unfortunate start in life. Esther did a wonderful job of consoling him and bringing him on emotionally and academically with all forms of education. Esther managed to coax our son out of his shell in a kind and considerate way while getting him prepared for the hard transition to our family. Esther spent hours with one to one care with him painting, cooking and playing. We are forever grateful to Esther and her family for all their hard work in looking after our son and would happily recommend Esther for her hard work and kind ways. Our son still holds a special part in his heart for Esther and her family and still loves to visit.

Cathy, Adoptive parent of looked after child

Esther has looked after my two girls who are 4 and 2 numerous times. I knew she would be great due to her previous nursery and fostering experience. She made the girls feel so welcome and everytime I collect them they tell me how much of a great time they have had and activities they have been up too. I would highly recommend.
