I have had the pleasure of knowing Sarah Arnold for two years at Barnsley College. In 2020 Sarah studied a Pre Access-Course within Childcare and has now completed a level 3 Access to Higher Education Childcare qualification and is awaiting results. During the time that I have known Sarah she has always had a passion for working with children, young people and families. Whilst studying, Sarah has always shown excellent communication and listening skills and is a very organised, trustworthy individual who is always motivated and driven to make a different to the lives of others. Sarah has exceptional rapport with both staff and peers at the college and has a fantastic ability to work both independently and as team. Sarah always remains professional, gives 100% commitment to her studies, and has excellent attendance. Outside of College Sarah has always gone above and beyond engaging within extra curriculum activities and gaining experience both on placement and employment. I have had the privilege of being Sarah’s teacher for a year whilst she studied her Access to Childcare course at Barnsley College. At the start of the course, it was very clear that Sarah has a great passion for early years work, in addition to a natural flair. Sarah has progressed during the course and is now a very experienced early years practitioner, she has proven skills supporting the care and educational needs of children and young people. Her communication skills are excellent; both written and verbal skills are of a high standard and she is able to adapt her communication to suit her audience. A particular skill of Sarah’s is interpersonal communication; she is kind and respectful with the ability to express any concerns calmly and sensitively. Her ability to support, inspire and motivate others will enable her to be a great leader. Always meeting set deadlines at college Sarah manages her time efficiently; she is organised and can prioritise her workload. In her class discussions, plus her written work Sarah shows that she has a thorough knowledge and understanding of topics covered in class. From child development to reflective practice, Sarah quickly grasps concepts and can synthesise her theoretical knowledge with her practical experience. Sarah is hugely solution focused and has such a positive attitude to challenges that she is presented with. Knowledgeable of the EYFS, the SEND code of practice and Working Together to Safeguard Children documents she is fully aware of her roles and responsibilities. Sarah has a hugely successful career in early years education ahead of her in which ever path she chooses; the children and families supported by her will be very lucky to have her. My little boy loved the play session Sarah created, so many options for him and something for all the children to have fun with. Sarah is very professional and is amazing with the children. She is very calm and considerate and makes you feel so welcome. Really looking forward to her new adventure and watching my little boy grow and learn with her, I feel at so much ease knowing he will be in her care xx
