About this home

Playful Days is in the heart of Burgess Hill. My home nursery is set up to provide all kinds of fun, and playful learning experiences and we have access to a wide range of activities locally. We often join the local childminders for soft play and toddler group. I live with my husband, daughter and 3 cats, and employ an assistant. I have been childminding now for 2 years, and have built up strong relationships with my families to support their children at all stages of their development.

About our tiney childminder

My home nursery covers all aspects of learning, and I love creating activities, like small world trays, puppets shows and outdoor fun, that enable children to learn and develop. I have spent the last 2 years looking after children as a childminder, from 6 months to 9 years and have learnt so much from them all. Watching the changes and growth of the children has been a learning experience for me, and I aim to send children home with a smile on their face and artwork in their hands.

Unique highlights

Daily Art and Design activities

I studied fine art and love sharing this passion with the children. We have recently created art in the style of Antonio Gaudi, and still life’s in the style of Paul Cézanne. Children often have a new artwork to take home at the end of the day.

Three friendly cats and 2 fish tanks

I have three friendly pet cats who have grown up with my daughter. Learning to care for pets is a great way to help children become responsible and empathetic to the needs of others. Recently we have installed a tank of baby pleco’s for the children to watch grow. To my surprise it not only excited the children but their parents too.

Healthy Meals

I follow a low salt and sugar diet and enjoy trying new recipes using good ingredients. I have created a 2 week menu for the children based on a balanced diet.

In this neighbourhood

My house is at the top end of West Street, near London Rd. We are within walking distance of Burgess Hill town centre, the library and the train station for trips to Brighton or Hayward’s Heath. There is a town bus stop a few doors from my house. St. John’s Wood Park and Fairfield Recreation Ground are at either end of the road for outdoor fun and lots of bear hunts. Twice a day we will be at Gattons infant school, and I am able to do before and after school care, drop offs and collections.

Sarah is an amazing mother and so great with children of all ages. She is responsible, trustworthy and commited to supporting children in their development. Sarah's home nursery is set up for so much fun and entertainment to keep the kids engaged. I would recommend Sarah to anyone with young ones needing child care!

I had been looking for a childminder for this school term and future and had seen Sarah's advert so I contacted her. She arranged a visit for me and my daughter and was so friendly and I instantly felt comfortable with her. She gave us a full tour of her home and run through some information with me as I had never had a childminder before. My daughter started two days a week for school drop off and pick ups and I then added every morning. My daughter has loved going to Sarah's and has had so much fun there, she will always come home with something she's drawn or made and usually doesn't want to leave! I get regular updates on what my daughter has been doing each day via the app and know when she has been picked up and dropped off which is really reassuring. Due to a job change I no longer require childcare, which my daughter is sad about! I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a childminder we were both really happy with her.

We have been with Sarah since September, when our baby turned just 6 months and I had to return to work 5 days a week, which is a stressful and emotional task for any mum, but Sarah has made this so easy. Sarah has gone above and beyond helping us through developmental transitions for naps, and weaning and even walking, working together as a team to give our baby consistency both in her setting and at home. I always worried that having a baby at a childminder would mean it sitting in a bouncer in the corner of a room while the needs of the older are met. I couldn't have been more wrong. Sarah has fun and creative activities each day that she adapts to mean they are all involved, including our baby in her own way. Finally, being my third child I was really worried that being back at work she was going to miss out on a lot of the preschool life my older two got, however Sarah takes them to play groups, library visits, park trips and play dates, building their own little network of baby friends which makes me absoloutly delighted. There is a smile on our babies face every single day when we arrive and I could not ask for more than that

Dylan started going to Sarah's just over a year ago shortly after he had turned 1. Since then his communication and social skills have come on such a long way, and have been reflected in his recent NHS development review as being beyond the expectation of his age range. I truly believe this is in large part thanks to the activities and interaction he gets at Sarah's. More importantly, he is clearly very happy and well settled with Sarah. He runs through the door with a smile on his face when we drop him off, and doesn't want to leave when we pick him up! She plans lots of exciting trips for the kids including visits to the Sealife Centre, wakehurst gardens, and even a theatre show. Sarah has also given us helpful advice when we've asked, and is currently supporting us in our potty training journey. On a practical note, Sarah has been very flexible and quick to accommodate when we've wanted to increase or change our hours. When we were first considering childcare options we had looked at Nurseries but due to waiting lists / availability we approached Sarah as an alternative. Having seen the care he gets from Sarah and his developmental progress, I'm so glad it worked out the way it has, and I wouldn't change a thing! With baby number 2 on the way there is no question - they will be going to Sarah's too!

Our daughter started attending Sarah’s tiney home back in Sept 22 and she has absolutely thrived there. We love how much Sarah does with her children - they have so many wonderful activities to do within the home that Sarah creates and are exposed to lots of other settings and children too outside of Sarah’s house. Some of these include Rhyme time/story time at the library, exploring in the woods, Wakehurst, sealife centre. We could not recommend Sarah more and have to anyone we know asking for recommendations. Sarah truly is fab my only wish is that she had been around when we had our son who also loves being at Sarah’s home in the holidays! Thank you so much again Sarah we would be lost without you. Kirsty. :)
